Los Angeles County Information Systems Advisory Body (ISAB) USA nominated by Global 360, USA

Abstract

This L.A. County submission involves the Information Systems Advisory Body (ISAB) who has oversight of the coordination, planning and development of major justice information systems. In response to the "DNA Fingerprint Unsolved Crime and Innocence Protection Act," ISAB developed a plan to implement a centralized, web-based DNA Offender Tracking System (DOTS). Los Angeles County now enjoys visibility and control over the third largest DNA database in the world while meeting legal requirements for obtaining, submitting and utilizing DNA evidence to support conviction and exoneration of persons accused of crimes, as well as solving cold cases by increasing the population of DNA profiles in the FBI's CODIS database.
